Sewing Bee 2024 Week 6 Patterns & Techniques

Children’s week on the Sewing Bee was adorable (as usual)!

So make sure you check out our episode 6 collection which includes bomber jacket styles, and cute animal costumes for kids of all ages. Plus the best patterns for the little ones in your life. And if you’re keen to learn how to craft WITH children check out our recommendations for child friendly projects.

Challenge 1

The sequin bomber challenge tested the Bees ability to work with sequins, add knit bands to a woven jacket and add a lining. It was a tough time frame for a complex project. For your first bomber jacket pattern we recommend using something stable like wool blends or corduroy. You can also make them out of sweatshirting or ponte roma for a stable but stretchy outer.

Our VIP members have access to extra blog posts like – How to Sew Sequin Fabrics which you might be interested in if you’d like to replicate the jacket from the show.

Challenge 2

The costume challenge was brilliant as expected and with two towels each contestant created some amazing creatures. We have children’s costumes for cats and dogs, bears, lions, rabbits, ducks, butterflies, crocodiles, dinosaurs AND MORE!

Read our free guide on How to Sew Towelling fabric if you’re keen to get upcycling like you saw on the show.
